On a rainy Halloween night, the White County High School Warriors continued their impressive run, claiming a decisive 40-0 victory over the Livingston Academy Wildcats. Coming into the matchup with four consecutive wins and an average margin of victory of 16.8 points, the Warriors once again proved their dominance on the field, leaving the game with even more momentum.
The weather may have been gloomy, but the Warriors’ performance was outstanding. Demarious Dowell led the charge on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and a touchdown. White County’s rushing attack was relentless, amassing a staggering 272 yards on the ground. This marked the fifth straight game in which the Warriors have rushed for at least 255 yards, solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in the trenches.
Senior quarterback Tripp Pinion, who has been dealing with an injury that has limited his own ground game for the past month completed 6 of 12 passes for 70 yards. Pinion’s passing game complemented the team’s ground game, keeping the Wildcats’ defense guessing and unable to mount a response.
The Warriors didn’t just excel on offense; their defense was equally formidable, forcing two interceptions thrown by Livingston Academy’s quarterback. Warriors Wyatt Dilts and Antonio Purvis each snagged a pick, further crippling the Wildcats’ chances of mounting a comeback.
“A great job by our kids,” Warrior coach Curtis Beaty said after the game, emphasizing how the win was a complete team effort. “The defense played really well. Noah Skieth had a great night on special teams with two touchbacks. Offensively, we had to work some rust off early but finished strong.”
White County’s offense has been a well-oiled machine this season, averaging 26.6 points per game, and Thursday’s blowout only added to their impressive statistics. With the win, the Warriors improved their record to 8-2, having won six of their last seven matches. In contrast, Livingston Academy fell to 4-6, marking their fourth consecutive loss on the road.
The Warriors are set to face Red Bank Friday at 7:00 pm as White County hosts the first playoff game of the post season at Dee Harris field.
“We’re excited to be back in the playoffs – especially since we get to play in front of the Sparta crowd,” Beaty said and encouraged the community to come to Friday’s game. “The atmosphere should be electric! Come out and support these boys.”
