The White County Middle School Warriorettes faced a challenging week on the basketball court, beginning with a tough loss to Mt. Juliet, on Nov. 7. Despite their efforts, the Warriorettes struggled to find their rhythm, resulting in a final score of 33-25.
In the game, White County managed to score only 3 points in the first quarter and 2 points in the second, trailing significantly at halftime. They showed some improvement in the second half, scoring 13 points in the third quarter but only netted 4 in the fourth. Mallori Swindell was the standout player for the Warriorettes, contributing 10 points, while Elin McDonald added 3 points, Lenzi Golden 2 points, and Taylor Hensley 7 points.
“They were very good defensively and we had a hard time making shots,” Head coach Marsha Jackson said. “They shot 24 foul shots, and we only shot 7, which is huge.”
However, the Warriorettes rebounded impressively the following day, Nov. 8, with a decisive 38-14 victory over Allons. The White County Middle School girls’ team had a strong offensive performance, scoring 8 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, and 15 in the third, before finishing with 4 points in the fourth.
Mallori Swindell led the team with 12 points, followed closely by Harper Broyles with 6 points. Other contributors included Elin McDonald (5 points) Lenzi Golden (3 points), Olivia Revange (2 points), Kenley Frazier (5 points), Treeah Powell (2 points), and Taylor Hensley (4 points).
“Defense was key for us,” Jackson talked about the difference between Thursday’s game and Friday’s. “We had 10 steals with only 3 turnovers and Elin McDonald led in rebounds with 4.”
The Warriorettes have five more games before the Thanksgiving break.
