The White County Middle School Warriorettes hosted a sectional game, on Feb. 1, and the result was a huge 42-38 victory over West Wilson Middle School.
“The crowd support was wonderful,” head coach Marsha Jackson said about the community showing up dressed in white to support the team and create a “white out” affect from the stands. “And a big thank you to Coach Michael Dodgen for bringing the high school girls’ basketball team over to support as well. That meant a lot to the girls!”
Jackson also gave a special thanks to Frank’s for providing a pre-game meal for the girls as well as to Warrior Media/The Expositor for broadcasting the game so that the community members who were unable to physically attend the game could still watch the girls in action and support from afar.
The win sent the Warriorettes to the semi-final round of the tournament where they faced Station Camp. While they did not get a win in Gladeville to advance further, a Sweet 16 finish in the AAA division is still a significant accomplishment.
“Today was not our day, but sometimes that’s how the ball bounces. We had a great season and finishing in the sweet 16 in the AAA is not so bad,” Jackson said after the girls’ exit from the tournament. “I can’t wait to watch these girls in the future!”
