White County Middle School teacher arrested, charged with rape of a child

According to a press release from Bryant Dunaway, district attorney general for the 13th Judicial District, investigators with the district attorney’s office, the White County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Children’s services began investigating allegations of inappropriate behavior by a male White County Middle School teacher earlier this week.

Upon learning of the initial allegations, the White County Director of Schools suspended Austin Allen from his teaching position, placing him on leave pending, the results of the investigation.

On Oct. 27, 2023, investigative efforts revealed that Austin Damon Allen, 27, a White County Middle School teacher, had engaged in sexual acts with a minor child.

Investigators sought warrants which were issued Oct. 27, in White County, charging Austin Damon Allen with three counts of rape of a child.

Rape of a child is a criminal offense involving sexual penetration of a victim under the age of 13.

Austin Allen was taken into custody, in Cookeville, where he lives. The Cookeville Police Department assisted in the arrest of Allen. Allen was transported to the White County Jail by White County deputies and booked into the White County jail. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.

“This investigation is still very much on-going and active,” Dunaway said. “It is possible that additional charges are forthcoming.
