The WCHS Warriorette volleyball team had a busy opening week to their season, competing in four matches and going 2-2 on the week but more importantly, 1-0 in district play.

On Aug. 14, the Warriorettes hosted Stone Memorial, losing 1-3 in the season and home opener. In two of the three games they lost, the Warriorettes were edged by closest of margins, losing both games by a score of 23-25.

On Aug. 15, the Warriorettes played host to Smith County and bounced back winning 3-1. Perhaps a bit of the previous game lingered as the girls dropped the first game 18-25 but then found their groove and dominated the Owlettes, easily defeating them in the next three games 25-12, 25-11, and 25-14.

On Aug. 17, the Warriorettes traveled to Stewarts Creek where they played their first district match of the season. The Warriorettes prevailed 3-1, handling the Red Hawks and getting that ever-important first district win under their belt.

On Aug. 18, the Warriorettes traveled to Livingston Academy, losing a hard fought match 2-3. The Warriorettes dropped the first two games to the Wildcats but resiliently fought back, winning the next two games and tying the affair. The fifth game saw the Warriorettes come up just a bit short, losing 11-15.
