COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson relieved Justin Holmes of his duties as the head baseball coach on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson made this statement: "Justin Holmes has been relieved of his duties due to conduct that is inconsistent with the expectations and standards Tennessee Tech has for all head coaches."

Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Mitchell Wright has been named the acting head coach, while a national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.

Holmes had just finished his first season at the helm, finishing 22-32, 9-21 in the Ohio Valley Conference. He also spent four years at Tech as an assistant under Matt Bragga, helping guide the team to its first NCAA Super Regional appearance.
