WCMS softball team defeats Prescott South - twice

The White County Middle School Warriorette softball team remains undefeated in conference play as they defeated Prescott South, on March 29 and March 30.

On March 29, the Lady Bulldogs made their way to Sparta to face the Warriorettes. The Warriorettes, once again, had a great night hitting. In the first inning, Addison Howell, Kylie Norvell, and Keely Nash would all hit singles to advance the score to 3-0 at the end of the first.

In the second inning, Kaylee Sanders would hit a single, Addison Howell would hit an RBI single, Kylie Norvell would then bring two home with a three run inside-the-park homerun. Rylee Groce would also hit a single in the inning to advance the score 8-0 at the end of the second.

No runs would be scored in the third.

In the fourth, the Warriorettes would get three on base by way of walks, and Jay-Lynn Keith would get an RBI single to end the game 11-1. Mabry Taylor was near perfect on the mound as she only allowed one run and recorded multiple strikeouts.

On March 30, the Warriorettes traveled to Cookeville to play game two of their conference series against Prescott.

Just like the night before, the Warriorettes’ bats were on fire. In the first inning, Miah Jo Swindell would hit a double, Sanders would hit an RBI double, and Keith would hit a single. The score was 1-0 going into the bottom of the first. Prescott would tie the game 1-1 after the first inning.

The Warriorettes would not score in the second, while Prescott would add another run, making the score 1-2  after the second inning.

 In the top of the third Swindell would hit a single, Sanders would hit an RBI triple, Norvell would be walked and later score on an error, Anna McCulley would hit an RBI single, Groce would hit an RBI single, and Swindell would get another at bat in the inning where she would hit a triple to bring two runs in. The score going into the bottom of the third was 8-2 in favor of WCMS.

The Lady Bulldogs would not score in the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fourth inning, Norvell would hit a single, Keith would hit a single, Groce, Taylor, and Sanders would all hit an RBI single, Howell would hit a single, Norvell would hit an RBI triple in her second at bat of the inning, and Keith would hit an RBI single in her second at bat of the inning. Prescott would score one more in the bottom of the fourth ending the game 16-3.

Norvell pitched a great game only allowing three runs and recording multiple strikeouts.

The Warriorettes are now 6-1 on the season but undefeated in conference play.
